NO FLYING OF DRONES IN AREA AROUND NDP ON 9 AUGUST

Dear A.S.S. Editor

For the first time in NDP history, the event this year has been gazetted as a "special event" under the Public Order Act, Police has confirmed.

What this means is that there will be tighter and stricter security measures in place around the venue. The order will be in effect for 24 hours on 9 August, and among other things, prohibit the unauthorized flying of drones and other Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) in the area without a permit. Besides UAVs, the public are also not allowed to take into the site items such as flares, explosives, paint, arms, aerosol paint, flammable materials and loudhailers.

Any person found guilty of doing so faces a fine of up to $20,000, jail term of 12 months or both. So far, 12 breaches involving UAVs during the preview shows have been detected. The cases are under investigations by the relevant authorities.
