Carrying a basket of nachos, New Jersey governor Chris Christie was caught on video confronting a Chicago Cubs fan during Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The video circulating on social media showed Christie leaning over to nearly get in the man’s face at the Miller Park.

According to Ben Hutchinson of WISN 12, this moment began after the Cubs fan teased the governor by calling him a hypocrite. Once this happened, Christie went to him and sarcastically said: “you’re a big shot.”

According to the media outlet, the fan called Brad Joseph described that this rare situation started when he was watching the game and saw the governor going up the stairs. At that moment, he called his name and told him that “he sucked.”

The governor, whose approval rating has fallen to 15 percent in the last six months of his term, drew sharp criticism from New Jersey residents following the controversial July 4 weekend when he was spotted having a relaxing time on a beach closed to others during a government shutdown.

After that, Joseph told that Christie was quite a bit past him and 30 feet away, so he yelled he was a hypocrite because he assured it was something that was needed to be said. However, everything went downhill from this moment since Joseph told he then saw the Jersey politician going back toward him.

According to Joseph, when Christie first got into his face while gently holding a tray of nachos close to his chest, he initially asked the fan why he didn’t have another beer. Joseph said he thought this was actually a pretty decent comeback, to the point where he thought it was quite funny.

Nevertheless, the governor was heating up and started to call him a “tough guy,” and eventually, “You’re a big shot.” Joseph told that although this whole situation felt like it lasted a long time, it was probably only about 30 seconds or a minute. While this rare event was happening, other fans surrounding Christie and the Cubs fan could be heard laughing loudly as the governor got within inches of Joseph’s face.

The latest baseball heckling for the governor came after he was booed when he caught a foul ball at a Mets-Cardinals game at the Citi Field on July 18.

The Jersey politician was in Milwaukee this weekend enjoying the Brewers and Cubs, and was at Friday night’s series opener. Apparently, his son Andrew works in the Brewers’ baseball operations department.

The latest baseball heckling for the governor came after he was booed when he caught a foul ball at a Mets-Cardinals game at the Citi Field on July 18. Although people were yelling at him, he celebrated the left-hand catch with an enthusiastic handshake with a friend and awkward high-fives before turning to give the ball to a child who was sitting in the rows just behind him.

As has been the case for Christie in recent weeks, he got the prize but not the reaction he wanted in this foul-catch situation. Somehow, he experienced what could have been one of the worst moments a politician could live when his popularity is not exactly at its peak: to suddenly appear on the stadium’s screen so everyone could certify on prime time TV that you’re not exactly popular.

Naturally, in a moment where the fact that an image worth a thousand words are stronger than ever thanks to social media, the picture that showed Christie sitting alone with his family on the popular New Jersey beach turned him into some kind of national pariah.

Believe it or not, Christie actually had another damaging controversy regarding sports, given the fact that during his audition on WFAN for a position in sports radio, while sitting in iconic host Mike Francesa’s seat, he got into a war of words with a caller. Apparently, the person criticized him for taking his “fat ##s” on a beach vacation while his constituents couldn’t.

Far from staying cool and not saying anything, Christie stooped to the caller’s level while on air, calling him a “bum” and grouping him in with the “communists in Montclair.” Naturally, this episode was also quite nocive for his image. In what may have been an audition to possibly succeed the New York radio host when he retires at the end of the year, this situation was controversial enough to keep Christie out of this spot.

Definitely, the New Jersey governor is living his worst moments in politics.
