Amos Yee who was last reported to have been assaulted in prison has been granted Home Detention and will be released by the end of this week. This is according to social worker Shelly Thio who announced it on her facebook.
Ms Thio said: "#AmosYee: Amos will be released for Home Detention by the end of this week." Amos Yee was found guilty on 6 charges for intention to wound the feelings of Muslims and Christians.
For his crimes, he was sentenced to 6 weeks jail and $2,000 fine. On 20 October 2016, CAN!, a Human Rights NGO shared that Amos Yee was threatened, slapped and kicked while in Tanah Merah prison, a prison they said were filled with mostly malay youths.
After that assault, Amos Yee's mother Mary Toh had applied for an urgent request to transfer her son into home detention.
