St. Louis Tells The LGBT Community What They Can Do With Their ‘Christian Request’

Many of the team members are religious and are not afraid to demonstrate it.

The left has been unwavering in their beliefs, unless someone supports their causes, free speech is not allowed. They have managed to stop speeches, get monuments removed, and even encourage violence. One of their latest attacks is focused on the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. They were met with surprising resistance, at least to them. The organization refuses to yield.

The issue began in 2015 when Lance Berkman, a former player for the Cardinals and other Major League Baseball teams, spoke out about transgender bathrooms. The All-Star was compelled to express his views about the proposed measure in Houston that would allow transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice. His concerns echoed those of many, safety first and foremost;

“The issue is, what to do about a 15 or 16-year-old boy who thinks he’s a girl and wants to shower with the girls. Maybe he is [transgender], maybe he’s confused. But I wouldn’t want him in the shower with my daughters. We shouldn’t have the rights of 2 percent of the population trump the rights of the other 98 percent.”

Of course, the LGBT community immediately branded him a homophobe. Fast forward to 2017 and that label did not stop his former team from inviting him to speak at their annual Christian Day.

Lance Berkman played with Cardinals during their 2011 World Series season.

This will be the Cardinal’s 27th Christian Day and the team has not been shy about the commitment to their faith. Current manager Mike Matheny said, “I am not going to shove my faith down your throat, but when the opportunity presents itself, don’t expect me to walk away. This is who I am, and Jesus Christ is at the center of my life. It’s all that I am, every day, every decision that I make. I’m going to stand up and tell you what I believe is true.”

Pride St. Louis, the city’s LGBT group has been pressuring the Cardinals to remove Berkman as a speaker but the team is standing strong for their beliefs and their former teammate. They issued a statement;

“As an organization, the Cardinals have always been committed to bringing like-minded groups together to share in the unifying experience of Cardinals baseball. We are an inclusive organization with a social responsibility to be welcoming to all types of people and organizations. We continue to try and reach out to every part of our community and have hosted a variety of themed events like Christian Day, Jewish Community Night, Catholic Family Night, Bosnian Heritage Night, Fiesta Cardenales, and many others. We are excited to announce that we will be hosting our first Pride Night later this season (details to follow shortly) which will bring members of the LGBT Community together to enjoy Cardinals baseball.”

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny is open about his faith.

In their typical manner, St. Louis Pride does not see the hypocrisy in asking for the Cardinals to exclude Berkman because he doesn’t want to be inclusive to them. They released their own statement;

“Pride St. Louis is disappointed by the decision of the St. Louis Cardinals to provide a public platform for Berkman, an individual whose words and actions towards the LGBTQ+ are divisive and demeaning.”

The irony is completely lost on them. Christian Day will go forward as planned, with Lance Berkman speaking, despite their objections. The Cardinals will not bow to the left’s agenda as so many have been forced to do. For that, they should be applauded.
