A mother of a 36 day old baby accidentally suffocated her baby, who had been co-sleeping with her parents on the night of 19 June.
According to Chinese newspapers, the infant's parents had let her sleep together with them on the bed as they wanted to make it easier to feed her. However, the mother of the child accidentally rolled onto the infant in her sleep, leading to her becoming suffocated.
The infant's father only noticed something was amiss when he discovered that she had stopped breathing. The baby was rushed to KK Women's and Children's Hospital at 9AM but she was pronounced dead at around 10.16AM.
Police are investigating the unnatural death.
